Bondi Announces Probe into Trump Adversaries and Epstein Connections
This past Friday, Pam Bondi appointed interim US attorney Jay Clayton to oversee an investigation into political adversaries of the President and their relationships with the late financier. This action came hours after the president directed her to begin the probe.
In a statement, the Attorney General commended Clayton as “among the nation’s top prosecutors”. The official stated, “The department will handle this matter promptly and thoroughly to provide clarity for citizens.”
This development appears to contradict a recent memorandum from federal authorities which stated that the Epstein files lacked grounds for further inquiries. According to the document, investigators “found no proof justifying probes into uncharged individuals”
Trump Demands Focus on Political Opponents in Epstein Case
The announcement comes as increasing demands from the president on congressional Republicans to block the full release of Epstein-related documents before an upcoming House vote next week. Many Republicans are expected to back the release.
Recently released communications from Jeffrey Epstein have highlighted the president’s previous connections with the convicted criminal, including details that he was more aware of Epstein’s actions than earlier acknowledged.
On Friday, Trump declared he would ask the DOJ to examine connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, including prominent individuals such as Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman. Interestingly, Trump also described the “Epstein situation” as a “scam”.
